pinkdylan search engine consultants have a
solution for you!
If you are serious about getting your site
found on search engines, don't want to get misled or ripped off, and have a
relatively modest budget, read on.....
"Natural Listings" or "Pay Per Click" - our
solution provides BOTH!
Most search engines display both "Free" Natural listings - which are based
on the search engines interpretation of the coding of the site with no fees paid
to the engines - and also "Pay Per Click", whereby it is easier to define the
phrases you will be found under BUT you pay for each and every visit.
Virtually all business should be looking for some exposure on BOTH Free and Paid
listings.
FACT: All companies guaranteeing to get your site listed on Google
or Yahoo with relevant phrases within 48 hours will be promoting Pay Per
Click - but most of them do not actually tell you this! Our price
includes an element of pay per click, but also includes
optimisation for "Free" listings.
FACT: Many companies that do optimisation work to achieve "Free"
natural listings will deliberately come up with phrases that, whilst seeming
logical enough, but with a subtle difference to phrases people including
competitors use in practice. This makes it easier to achieve higher listings
(with the specific "spurious" phrase) - but does not deliver relevant
traffic to your site. pinkdylan are open and ethical - we do not try
and trick you.
FACT: Any one web page can only realistically expect to be found on
the "Free" listings with a relatively small number for phrases, typically
based around approximately 6 to 8 fundamental keywords. Also it is
unrealistic to expect to be "No. 1" with extremely general phrases such as
"Web Design" or "Accountants". Sensible targeting (geographical or
otherwise) is essential. Most will not actually tell you this - we not only
tell you but we ensure that targeting used is highly relevant to your
business.
FACT: Most companies will use software to automatically generate
reports. We do this manually - all the reports we provide under this scheme
are generated from human web searches, this provides many advantages,
not least the fact that we can visually spot trends concerning competitors
web sites, and this can help us achieve better results for you.
So, what do pinkdylan actually do, and what about cost?

(phrases and clients name blurred for client confidentiality)
1 - We define 10 "Key Search Phrases"
We have already established above that we need to use intelligent targeting, and
(for any given page) aim at a limited number of words. We discuss your business
and target market with you, and ask you for your gut feelings for the 3 most
likely phrases you think people may use when potentially interested in your
services. We then undertake research based around 350 million web searches to
find out how often these phrases are really used. This also suggests
alternatives, and provides information relating to competitors. We use all of
this information to create the 10 phrases that we will be aiming for, and
reporting on. These phrases will be based around different combinations of up to
10 words (typically 8).
2 - We optimise your Home Page - targeting our 10 phrases for "Free"
listings.
We will make any changes to your home page necessary to give you a decent chance
of being found under the "Free" listings with as many of the 10 phrases as
possible. Typically this will include updating "titles and tags" (which are not
visible on your web site), and updating the actual text on your home page. We
then register with the major search engines (including Google, Yahoo and MSN),
requesting them to re-index your site. Note, with this scheme we are primarily
aiming to bring people to your home page. You can opt to run multiple schemes
each targeting different phrases for different pages (at additional cost).
3 - We create a Google sitemap of your site, upload, register
sitemap with Google and complete Google's sitemap verification procedure. We
also create and publish Yahoo and general HTML sitemaps.
4 - We Set up - and pay for - Pay Per Click
on Google and Yahoo related engines.
We include a monthly budget of **£40.00 to be paid direct to the search
engines for "Pay Per Click" (sponsored links). We obviously want to bring as
many relevant people to your site as possible for this budget. We set up
sponsored links for some or all of your 10 phrases. Different phrases will cost
different amounts per click (depending on how much competition there is for
them), so we may not set up sponsored links for all phrases - simply because it
is better to receive 10 visitors for £1.00 (10p per click) than it is to get 2
(50p per click), so we will spend them money as wisely as possible to achieve
maximum number of relevant paid visits possible for the budget.
5 - We send you a detailed Monthly Report
Each month we manually search each of 10 major search engines for each of your
10 phrases. We search for both "Free" and "Paid" listings. We manually generate
a report which will show you exactly where you are on the engines (if in top 50)
for both Free and Paid listings. This both informs you where you are, and
identifies to us any area needing additional work. It will not always be
possible to achieve listings on every engine with every phrase, but if there are
any fundamental issues we attempt to address these, all within the fee.
The report is an Excel spreadsheet which is sent to you BOTH electronically and
as a hardcopy. Note, although we report your position if in the "top 50",
we are aiming for "Top 20's or better", and the report will tell you the total
number of top 20's achieved (maximum is 100 - for any given phrase on any
given search engine a top 20 "free" listing, a top 20 "paid" listing or both
will all count as one "top 20).
Frequently asked questions:
-
What does it cost?
-
The cost is £100+vat per month - fully inclusive of our
ongoing work on the site, reporting, and up to £40 paid direct to the
engines for paid clicks. There is an initial one-off set up fee for
£299+vat for the initial research and optimisation.
-
How long is the contract?
-
You are committed to just 5 months, no annual contract.
One complete months notice is required to terminate contract - so if we
receive notice in January (any date in January), the final report and
invoice goes out at the end of February.
-
How do I pay?
-
Setup fee is payable with order, by cheque or credit
card. Monthly fees are payable by standing order. Standing orders leave
your bank on around the 23rd of the month, to cover the report due out
at the end of that same month.
-
Is there a Guarantee?
-
Yes and No, yes we do guarantee a minimum of 40 top 20's
out of a possible 100 from month 2 onwards, but in practical terms this
is fairly meaningless. What matters to you most is that the scheme
generates traffic to your site, and that this leads to enquiries and
business. We rely on the client to supply us with feedback in this
respect as we have no way of knowing how much business is generated.
-
What about changes to phrases?
-
What are Google Sitemaps
-
Google Sitemaps are a special file generated that includes
crucial information about your website and (usually) all of its pages. This
file is readable by Google, but first needs to be registered with Google and
verified by Google. We handle all of this. Yahoo and HTML sitemaps are used
by other search engines but there is no need for a formal registration and
verification process.
-
Does it work for everyone?
-
There is always an exception to every rule, but for
almost all "normal businesses" this scheme is a real benefit. Most
clients stick with it not just for the 5 months, but for all intents and
purposes indefinitely.
-
Do you deal with our competitors?
-
What if I want to spend more than £40 a month on Pay Per
Click.
-
Obviously our £40 per month budget may not capture all
possible Pay Per Click traffic for the phrases in use. We can easily
increase the amount you spend on Pay Per Click, and if we do this we can
also add in more phrases for this element of the service if you wish.
Contact us for details. Such schemes would
include an additional report fully detailing expenditure on a phrase by
phrase basis.
-
What if I want more than 10 phrases?
-
There is a certain part of a web page code that is
critically important to search engines, and the search engines only read
a certain number of characters. This limits us to around 8 words to
effectively target for any given page. If the nature of your business is
such that you need to target many more phrases, then there are two
options we can offer:
-
We can run multiple schemes, each targeting their
own words and phrases (and each pointing to the specific relevant
page within your site). We can offer a modest discount on second and
subsequent schemes.
-
We can optionally run additional "Pay Per Click
Only" schemes for additional phrases - this provides sponsored
listings with as many phrases as you require but will not provide
"Free" listings for the additional phrases.
Contact us for details. Such schemes would include an additional
report fully detailing expenditure on a phrase by phrase basis.
